The following is taken in part from a letter by Freelife CEO Ray Faltinsky. This provides you a good background on what led to the creation of Jule of the Orient the Jiaogulan Immortality Herb Tonic.
…My entire adult life has been centered around bringing people the most effective nutritional products they need to live a long, healthy, and vibrant life. In 2003, we launched a product called Himalayan Goji Juice that went on to help millions of people around the world achieve a new level of wellness. It became one of the most successful nutritional products of all time.
While Himalayan Goji Juice became a tremendous success, I never wanted FreeLife to become complacent. I wanted us to always be on the cutting edge of products that can dramatically improve people’s lives. I wanted to be sure that we are bringing people the very best that nature and science can offer.
So over the past six years, our Scientific Research Team and I have been traveling around the world and continually evaluating hundreds of products and ingredients to make sure we are bringing people the most life-changing products possible. Frankly, nothing we ever examined during those six years could come close to goji in terms of its enormous health benefits.
That is, until one day the same prominent Chinese herbalist who told us about the goji berry introduced us to a plant from Asia called jiaogulan. We heard that in certain remote mountain villages in southern China where jioagulan is used regularly as a tonic, an extraordinary number of people were living to a very old age and in incredibly good health. Thus, the local inhabitants lovingly referred to jiaogulan as the “Immortality Herb” or simply the “Miracle Herb.”
We learned that since the recent discovery of these “longevity pockets” in southern China, more than 300 scientific studies had been published in respected scientific journals demonstrating jiaogulan’s incredible rejuvenating powers. We also learned that this “Miracle Herb” is used by health practitioners throughout China to support virtually every aspect of human health.
At first, I could not believe my eyes. I have been involved in the nutrition industry since 1980, almost 30 years, and I had never in all my life seen anything like this. But the scientific research was irrefutable and the health benefits that this plant offered were so broad and far reaching that we simply had to conclude that we had found the most important health discovery that we had ever seen!
And on top of all that, this plant was virtually unknown outside of Asia since much of the science and research on jiaogulan was done in the Chinese language and had not yet been translated. So we could be the first to bring jiaogulan to the market in a big way!
As part of our in-depth investigation into jiaogulan, we traveled to China and visited with scientists and researchers who are considered the experts on this plant. In fact, we met with the premier jiaogulan researcher in the world, the man referred to as the “Father of Jiaogulan,” Dr. Jialiu Liu, MD and Professor of Pathology at Guiyang Medical College in China. Dr. Liu was appointed by the government to head a team of 16 scientists in a 10-year investigation of the amazing benefits of jiaogulan.
Today, even in his 80s, Dr. Liu shared with us his love for this plant and his belief that so much good could be done around the world if more people were introduced to the benefits of the “Miracle Herb.” I shared with Dr. Liu the story of my mom and our vision for bringing the good news of jiaogulan all around the world. We are so proud to have Dr. Liu join the FreeLife Family as our newest member of our Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Liu explained to us that from a scientific standpoint, the chemicals responsible for most of jiaogulan’s powerful benefits are called saponins. In studies, saponins have been shown to have a remarkable ability to bring balance to the body under a wide range of stressful circumstances, and they have a powerful ability to help the body adapt to stress.
Jiaogulan has been found to contain a wealth of saponins, including a group of highly bioactive ones called gypenosides that are not found anywhere else.
