Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Well here we are again back looking at each of the 21 super fruits – nutrients in the Freelife Jule of the Orient Jiaogulan tonic. Tonight we feature the Pomegranate fruit. Pomegranates are now used in a number of health products due to studies showing that the fruit contains a high amount of antioxidants that are beneficial to our health in numerous ways. Just one more nutrient that shows why Jule of the Orient truly is such an outstanding product.
Pomegranate Fruit
Pomegranates are originally from Asia and the Middle East, the pomegranate fruit is also known as the Chinese apple and by the name Granada. Today the pomegranate fruit is largely grown is India, Africa and the United States. The pomegranate fruit grows best in hot climate areas.

A little American history – Thomas Jefferson planted pomegranates at his home in Monticello in 1771.

Pomegranates are a great source of vitamin C, vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), and potassium, and pomegranate juice contains antioxidants polyphenols that will help to protect your blood lipids from oxidation.

The most abundant polyphenols in pomegranate juice are the hydrolyzable tannins called punicalagins which have free-radical scavenging properties in laboratory experiments.

Other phytochemicals contained in pomegranates include polyphenols catechins, gallocatechins, and anthocyanins, which is a valuable antioxidant..
The ORAC score or antioxidant capacity of pomegranate juice has been measured at 2,860 units per 100 grams.

In addition, pomegranate juice, like aspirin, can help keep blood platelets from clumping together to form unwanted clots.

Recent research has found that eight ounces of pomegranate juice daily for three months improved the amount of oxygen getting to the heart muscle.

There is evidence to suggest that pomegranates may also support healthy joints.

The astringent qualities of the pomegranate flower juice, rind and tree bark are considered valuable for a variety of purposes. They have been used for toning skin, (after blending with mustard oil) and even firming-up sagging breasts.

Cherry Cherries one of 21 SuperFoods in Freelife Jiaogulan Tonic

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

As I look at each of the 21 super fruits – nutrients in the Freelife Jule of the Orient Jiaogulan tonic, I’m amazed at the interest in natural fruits and nutrition on various blogs and websites. Here we’re going to take a look at the cherry. The more I looked into the cherry the more I’ve become impressed with its nutritional value. I continue to find what I am discovering about each of the nutrients more and more fascinating. This Jule of the Orient truly is quite an outstanding product.
cherries cherry
Everyone’s familiar with the cherry but did you know that the cherry was very high in antioxidants. Tart cherries, (as either dried, frozen, or cherry juice), have among the highest levels of very valuable antioxidants, as compared to other fruits. Cherries also contain important nutrients such as vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, iron, fiber and folate. Cherries are contain 19 times more beta carotene than blueberries or strawberries.

Cherries have a very high ORAC antioxidant score – here are some of the ORAC score levels for a serving of various types of cherries:

* Cherry Juice Concentrate: 12,800 ORAC units
* Dried Cherries: 6,800 ORAC units
* Frozen Cherries: 2,033 ORAC units
* Canned Cherries: 1,700 ORAC units

Cherries derive their much of their antioxidant power from the powerful anthocyanins contained in cherries. These anthocyanins provide the distinctive red color and may hold the key to the cheery’s many health benefits. The rich, red pigments that give cherries their color are a type of phytonutrient known as flavonoids, which have been linked to a variety of health benefits.

Scientific studies have shown that anthocyanins in cherries help the body to respond to inflammation by blocking the actions of cycloxygenase-1 and 2 enzymes.

Tart cherries especially, are exceptionally rich in many health promoting flavonoid poly phenolic anti-oxidants such as lutein, zeaxanthin and beta carotene. These antioxidant nutrients act as protective scavengers against harmful free radicals that play a role in aging.

Here is something I found surprising to learn. Cherries contain melatonin and are one of the very few foods that contain it. Melatonin is a potent antioxidant produced naturally by the body’s pineal gland that helps regulate biorhythm and natural sleep patterns. Eating cherries can help you get to sleep faster and also ease jet lag.

A University of Michigan study shows a cherry-enriched diet may help lower body fat (especially belly fat), reduce weight, and support heart health.

Cherries have also been shown to provide excellent joint health support.

Aronia Berry one of 21 Super Fruits in Freelife Jiaogulan Tonic

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Here’s a look at one more of the 21 super foods & fruits in the Freelife Jule of the Orient Jiaogulan tonic, In this case it’s the aronia berry (also called the chokeberry). I continue to find what I am discovering about each of the nutrients more and more fascinating. This truly is quite an outstanding product.
aronia berry
Native Americans in North America used the aronia berry for medicinal purposes, for making dyes for clothing, and for preserving meats and other foods.

Aronia berries are mainly known to have the highest level of antioxidants of any fruit. This translates to the aronia berry having an ORAC (oxygen radical absorptive capacity) score or value, which is higher than any other food.

Antioxidants work to reduce the damage caused by free radicals in the body. And ORAC is a measuring indicator of an antioxidant’s power to neutralize free radicals. However, keep in mind ORAC is only a measure of antioxidant potential in a test tube and doesn’t mean it will have the same effect in the human body. I’m certainly not saying all antioxidant products are like this, but the potential exists to create a product with a very high off the charts ORAC score and it would be nearly worthless as far an antioxidant capacity in the human body.

Also even if it is effective in the human body ORAC scores over a certain amount are worthless – the human body can only benefit from a certain ORAC score on a daily basis (About 5000 ORAC per day). Beyond that the human body can’t process the remaining amount.

The antioxidant power of the aronia berry is largely due to its high concentration of anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins, both of which are largely responsible for the aronia berry’s dark, almost black, color.

Anthocyanins is a pigment that causes the red, blue or purple colour of plants, fruits, vegetables and flowers. Anthocyanins are flavonoids which help to keep arteries clear, so they are good for cardiovascular health.

The aronia berry also contains vitamins B2, B6, E, C and Folic Acid (another B-vitamin).

Studies have shown the aronia berry can benefit or support blood circulation, urinary tract health, heart health and gastrointestinal health.

Acai Berry one of 21 Super Fruits in Jiaogulan Tonic

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

The Acai Berry is just one of the 21 amazing supernutrients in Jule of the Orient. The amazing Jiaogulan herbal tonic. Here is some interesting information about the amazing Acai Berry.
Acai berry growing
Acai is rated as one of the highest antioxidant containing fruits in the world. Acai has 10 times the antioxidant level of grapes and twice that of blueberries. Acai also has up to 30 times the Anthocyanins of red wine.

Acai can have a fairly high ORAC score – fresh acai berries (100 grams) can have an excellent ORAC antioxidant score of up to 5500. However, freeze dried acai (100 grams) can have an off the chart ORAC antioxidant score of over 70,000. These are totals – this means you would have to eat 100 grams or about 3 and a half ounces of fresh acai berries to get 5500. And eating 1 gram of freeze dried acai would give you an ORAC score of 700 per gram.

Second ORAC is only a measure of antioxidant potential in a test tube and doesn’t mean it will have the same effect in the human body. I’m not saying antioxidant products are like this but the potential exists to create a product with a very high off the charts ORAC score and it would be worthless as far an antioxidant capacity in the human body.

Also even if it is effective in the human body ORAC scores over a certain amount are worthless – the human body can only benefit from a certain ORAC score on a daily basis (About 5000 ORAC per day).

The amazing benefits of Acai include increased energy, anti-aging, improved sleep and strong heart health, just to name a few.

Let’s examine what Acai contains from a nutritional standpoint.

First Acai is very rich in vitamins and minerals. Acai contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E. Acai contains as much Vitamin C as blueberries. Acai also contains the minerals potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc.

Acai is a very valuable source of Plant Sterols
There have been 3 specific plant or sometime called photosterols that are contained in Acai – B-sitosterol, campesterol and sigmasterol. Photosterols have numerous health benefits like healthy heart and digestive function.

Acai is also a very valuable source of Amino Acids and Protein. 19 different amino acids have been identified in Acai.

Also the Acai berry is a very rich source of the healthy unsaturated Omega fats like Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9. Almost half of the Acai berry is fat, with 74% of the fat being the healthy unsaturated fats like Omega 3.

More information on Acai - the Acai berry is 90% seed, with only 10% of the berry edible. So be careful – the seed has not been proven to provide health benefits so avoid any products that use the seed, they are a terrible value.

Also you may have seen advertisements for Acai Berry weight loss products. These are a total scam. There has been no research that indicates drinking acai berry juice or taking acai supplements will result in weight loss.

Also with Acai avoid spray dried, it is vastly inferior to freeze-dried Acai. Also with Acai products that are called extracts are typically not that good a product as you want all the nutrients from the Acai other then the seeds.

Movie Julie and Julia Child Health TAIslim and More.

Julia Child
I watched the movie Julie and Julia tonight with my wife Jean. The movie is about the famous TV cook and writer Julia Child. My memories of watching Julia Child on TV as a kid was one of being amused and entertained by how she talked, more so than anything about the cooking.

Watching the movie gave me a new undiscovered appreciation of Julia Child. What I found so fascinating and refreshing was Child’s unbridled enthusiasm for what she loved cooking. I was also impressed by how upbeat she constantly remained. It seemed as if nothing could quench her joyful spirit. There are not enough people in this world who can look adversity and disappointment in the face and just laugh. I found a new found respect and admiration for Julia Child as she battled against the grain to do what she loved bring French Cooking to all Americans. In the late 1940′s the Cordon Bleu (French for blue ribbon) cooking school she attended was dominated by all males.

As someone who loved French Cooking she had a passion to make that cooking available to the typical American household.

Another point – Julia Child lived to the age of 92 – dying in 2004 and yet she smoked and was a little overweight. I believe her upbeat lifestyle and doing what she loved paid a big role in her long life. I would be interested in seeing a study of the life spans of people who do what they love versus those engaged in jobs they hate.

Just as Julia Child believed French Cooking was unparalleled any where in the world, so I believe the Freelife nutritional products standout as unsurpassed.

I’ve been working with and marketing nutritional products for 15 years. And I absolutely believe the following:

The Freelife TAIslim Weight loss product is in my opinion the best weight loss product on the market. Which is especially need if you find yourself eating too many of Julia Child’s recipes.

The new Jule of the Orient is the best herbal (jiaogulan) tonic and may be the best overall nutritional product I’ve ever experienced.

The Himalayan Goji – Gochi Juice is I believe the best of the group of juice products (acai berry, noni, mangosteen, etc).

If you haven’t seen it I think you might enjoy seeing Julie and Julia. Meryl Streep is brilliant in her role as Julia Child, which is especially hard to do when you can easily compare her to the real Julia Child on TV.

Rhodiola Root One of the Jiaogulan Tonic 21 Supernutrients

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Rhodiola root is just one of the 21 amazing supernutrients in Jule of the Orient. The amazing Jiaogulan herbal tonic. Here is some interesting information about this amazing plant rhodiola. It is sometime referred to as rhodiola rosea or golden root. Those famous 100-year-old Russian farmers featured in National Geographic credited Rhodiola root for their longevity.
rhodolia root plant
Rhodiola is a perennial plant that grows in the high altitudes of the northernmost reaches of Russia, China, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Tibet. It bears spikes of blue-green leaves bearing a single yellow flower that blooms during the brief arctic summer. Like the better known siberian ginseng or eleuthero root, rhodiola is an adaptogen, enabling the body to maintain physiological balance during times of physical or mental stress. Jiaogulan and goji (Gochi) incidentally are two of the most potent adaptogens known.

In one study (from March 2003) 161 cadets, ages 19 to 21 years, were randomized to receive either a single dose of standardized rhodiola extract, a single dose that was 50% stronger than the standardized dose, or placebo. Researchers found that the cadets who received rhodiola extract showed significant lowering of fatigue as measured by an antifatigue index compared to those on placebo.

Rhodiola also seems to improve healthy brain function! In an open study of 27 healthy students, physicians, and scientists, researchers reported that Rhodiola root improved the amount and quality of work and very significantly decreased the percent of errors made. Performance levels soared!

In an open study of 128 patients aged 17-55, research suggested that Rhodiola could alleviate occasional bouts of fatigue, irritability and distractibility.

The Russians think so highly of rhodiola root that they are giving it to their Olympic champions and also their cosmonauts to protect them from the incredible stresses of life in outer space.

Thanksgiving Day Blessing
What’s your favorite memory or story of Thanksgiving? I remember as a kid going to my Grandparents house for Thanksgiving. I remember the smells coming from my grandmothers kitchen. She would make turkey and stuffing, and the best macaroni and cheese I’ve ever eaten. She would make oyster dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and homemade apple and pumpkin pies. I remember the blessing my grandfather used to give- it was always the same and I heard it so often I still remember it. Then my father and grandfather would tell stories and we would watch football games while we played with toys. It was a simpler time, my grandparents are now gone, but I still have fond memories of those times. I feel very blessed for being a part of those times and for being born an American. We need to do all we can to assure that true Godly and American values are preserved as are they under assault from many sides.

I wish you a most blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.
J Sapp

I want to bring your attention to a great natural healthy deodorant product – Pure Confidence. This all-natural formula consists of a proprietary blend of zinc, essential oils, vegetable extracts, and vegetable-derived grain alcohol, which will not dry your skin. And it contains no toxic chemicals.

Also:
Have you ever wondered about the differences between high quality and cheap vitamin nutritional supplements?

Here are some of the big differences – with the cheap product your body in some cases only absorbs 5-10 percent of the nutrients. While in the high quality product your body can easily absorb 5 -10 times or even more of these valuable nutrients than the cheap product.

This is because manufactures are only required to put on the label what they put in the product before manufacture. This can be a far cry from how much your body absorbs of the final product. The high quality products are formulated so your body absorbs a much higher amount of the actual product.

Let’s Examine Raw Materials

First of all did you know that they are huge differences in the quality of herbal raw materials.
There can be big differences in the amount of active ingredients based upon where the plant was grown, the seed used for growing, what part of the plant is being used, how the plant was harvested, when it was harvested, and even how the plant was stored. Plus some batches can have many more contaminants and impurities than others.

Raw ingredients especially herbals should be stored in low humidity and a low temperature environment and yet many aren’t stored properly.

Of course a good product starts with strict inspection processes of the raw materials.

Raw materials are screened, inspected and even quarantined to assure they meet optimal standards.

Any tablets and capsules go through strict sizing and weight requirements and should be manufactured to break down quickly in the stomach.

Also a good quality capsule, tablet supplement will typically contain a coating for ease of swallowing and this coating will typically contain a high quality antioxidant like alpha-lipoic acid to help protect the tablet against oxidation and loss of potency.

I will cover more on the methods for manufacture of the best high quality nutritional products in my next blog post.

I say this with the utmost conviction and honesty I continue to be totally impressed with the Freelife TAIslim Weight Loss products, Himalayan Goji Gochi Juice, and Jule of the Orient Jiaogulan Tonic. I totally swear by these products, they are in my humble opinion the 3 best nutritional products I ever used in 15 years.
